Text Post # 2 : Fear of Losing
I am now on my second text post. :)
My teacher in one of my I-don’t-know-why-I’m-taking-this subjects used to lecture us about writing an essay. He said that writing an essay is like cooking. You would deal with each of the ingredients first, then after all the ingredients are ready, you would then toss all of them in a casserole. Mix. Mix. Mix.
This now means that to write an essay about “Fear of Losing”, I need to define what fear and losing means individually first. But I don’t want. Haha. Actually, I’m scared that if I focus on defining those two terms right now, the thoughts that have been spinning in my head about the general topic would be lost by the time I need to type them in.
Fear of Losing.
We only lose someone or something when we once owned them in the first place. Maybe, almost everyone of us fears losing something or someone. This is so because we have been so attached to that thing that much, that we haven’t thought that there is a possibility that we might actually lose them. We have given so much of our precious time and emotions, thinking that it is, and it will, never be a waste. This is why we fear losing. We can never be prepared for a loss, and since this is the case, we fear losing because we know that with losing comes pain.
Although it is normal to feel pain, although sometimes we tell that we are used to feeling pain —- the truth is we aren’t. We never get used to being hurt, simply because being hurt doesn’t feel the same way twice. The next time is always either too much, or a little less than it was the previous time.
Aw. I know this post is some kinda hanging. I don’t know how to end this, since I know this is not yet supposed to end. I haven’t had a conclusion or even a realization yet. I am just not in the mood to write. WHATEVER. Haha. Too bad for a second post. :(
Text Post # 1 : Death at Random
Here I am, with my first text post again after a long time of not being able to blog, for reasons only my inner self knows and understands.
This morning, I happened to stare at my fish bowl. It now contains a single fish. Before, it was the home of five fishes of the same kind. It then occurred to me that survival is not about the kind. Well, for now, that occurrence would not be the point.
When a moment like this comes to my mind, I always remember the standard question in our high school Christian Living Reflection Book : “What struck you the most?” Perhaps, the thing that struck me the most upon seeing that fish bowl is that life can end at a very random fashion.
Life can end at a very random fashion.
Very true. Lucky are those persons who were able to say their final words. Lucky are those persons who were able to hug and kiss their loved ones, lucky are they who were able to seize that moment, knowing that it would be their last. Lucky are they, for they are among the very few people who were able to prepare themselves for an impending loss.
I really don’t know why I am typing these things. When I logged in, I was planning to blog about the topic Fear of Losing. Losing which does not refer to that which is associated to death, but losing in the sense of falling out of love. I guess this is funny, but then, not that bad for a first post.
I guess I need to stop right here. My thoughts are already getting vague and I’m starting to mess up. :)
